How the discount is calculated
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the amount you save, then subtract it from the price. A 25% discount on 200 saves 50, so you pay 150.
How do I find the discount percentage from two prices?
Choose Find the discount, enter the original price and the sale price. The calculator divides the difference by the original price. For 200 reduced to 150, the discount is 25%.
How do I find the original price before a discount?
Choose Find the original price, enter the sale price and the discount percentage. The calculator divides the sale price by (1 minus the discount). A 150 sale price after 25% off means the original was 200.
Do two discounts add up?
No. The second discount applies to the already reduced price. 20% and then 10% off is 28% in total, not 30%. Use the Two discounts in a row option to see the exact result.
Should I choose tax included or not included?
Choose Yes if the price on the tag already contains VAT or sales tax. Choose No if tax is added at the till. Then enter the tax rate and the calculator adds it after the discount.
Is anything uploaded?
