Privacy Policy
Last updated: [insert date]
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use PDFly (the "Service"). It's written to be read by a person, not a lawyer — if anything is unclear, please get in touch.
Your PDF files
PDFly processes your PDF entirely inside your own browser. When you open a file, it is loaded into your browser's memory and edited there; it is not uploaded to our servers or any third party, and we have no way to see or store its contents. Closing the tab or navigating away discards it completely, so please save/download anything you want to keep.
Sharing a PDF by link, and contact messages
The one exception to the above is the optional Share feature. Only if you click "Create link", the PDF you chose is uploaded to our server and stored for the time you select (1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days), then deleted automatically; you can also delete it yourself at any time. Anyone who has the link can download the file (or sign it, for a signature request) until it expires, so please don't share confidential documents this way. For a signature request we also keep the signed copy until the request expires so the sender can download it. We keep only a salted hash of your IP address to limit abuse, never the raw address. If you send us a message through the contact form, we store your name, email address and message so we can reply.
Cookies and advertising
This site shows advertising to help keep it free. We use Google AdSense, which may set cookies and use device identifiers to serve ads, including ads personalized to your interests based on your visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before advertising cookies or identifiers are used. Until you accept, ads are not personalized and no advertising cookies are set by us. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.
Analytics
We may use basic, aggregated website analytics (such as page views and general location/device type) to understand how the site is used and to improve it. This data is not tied to the contents of any file you edit.
Information we collect directly
We do not require an account to use PDFly, and we do not collect your name, email address, or any personal information as part of using the editor itself. If you contact us directly (for example, by email), we'll have whatever information you choose to include in that message.
Children's privacy
This Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Since we do not collect personal information through normal use of the editor, there is generally nothing on file to request — for anything related to cookies/advertising, see the opt-out links above, or contact the advertising provider directly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
