PDF Metadata Cleaner

See, edit, or remove hidden information from a PDF — free, and everything happens in your browser.

PDFs often carry more information than what's on the page: who created it, what software was used, and when. This shows you exactly what's there, lets you type new values for any field, and clearing a field removes it entirely.

Frequently asked questions

What metadata does a PDF usually contain?

Common fields include Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, the software used to create it (Creator/Producer), and creation/modification dates. Many PDFs also carry a separate XMP metadata block that can contain similar information.

Can I change metadata values instead of only removing them?

Yes — each field is an editable text box pre-filled with the current value. Type a new value to change it, or clear the box entirely to remove that field.

Will the cleaned file show any metadata at all afterward?

No — any field you leave empty is removed entirely from the file, not just blanked out or replaced with a placeholder. Anything you leave untouched stays exactly as it was.

Does this remove tracking or hidden scripts, not just metadata?

This tool targets document metadata specifically (the Info dictionary and XMP block), not embedded JavaScript or other content within the PDF itself.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read, cleaned, and rebuilt entirely in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.

Is it free, with no limits?

Yes. No account, no watermark, and no limit on how many files you can clean.
