Frequently asked questions
How do I share a PDF as a link?
Choose your PDF and click "Create link". You get a short link and a QR code. Anyone you send the link to — or who scans the QR code with their phone — can download the file.
How long does the link work?
You choose: 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days. When the time is up the file is deleted from our server automatically. You can also delete the link yourself at any time.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
For this tool, yes — a link can't exist without the file being stored somewhere. The PDF is kept only for the time you pick and then removed. All other PDFly tools still run entirely in your browser and upload nothing.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, PDFs up to 20 MB can be shared. If yours is bigger, compress it first with the PDFly Compress PDF tool.
Can I share a PDF I just edited, merged or compressed?
Yes. After any PDFly tool downloads a PDF, a "Share" bar appears with the same link and QR code options.
Is it safe for confidential documents?
Anyone who has the link can download the file, so don't use it for confidential documents. For those, protect the PDF with a password first and send the password separately.
