Frequently asked questions

How do I sign a PDF online?

Choose your PDF, pick "Sign it myself", click Signature and then click where it should go. Draw, type or upload your signature, then press "Apply & download signed PDF". It all happens in your browser.

Can I ask someone else to sign a document?

Yes. Pick "Request a signature", place the fields (signature, initials, date, text) and press "Create signing link". You get a link and a QR code to send. The signer opens it, fills the fields and presses Finish. You then download the signed PDF from your status page.

Is this a legally binding signature?

It is a simple electronic signature, which many everyday agreements accept. It does not verify the signer's identity and is not a certified digital signature, so for contracts that need one, check what your country and the other party require.

Does it work in Arabic?

Yes. The page works in Arabic and English, you can type your name in Arabic with a calligraphy style, and text fields accept Arabic.

Is my PDF uploaded?

When you sign it yourself, nothing is uploaded. When you request a signature, the PDF is stored on our server until the expiry you choose (1, 7 or 30 days), then deleted automatically. You can delete it earlier from the status page.

Can I draw my signature on a phone?

Yes. Draw with your finger on the signature pad. You can also upload a photo of your signature on white paper and the background is removed.

Where is my saved signature kept?

Only if you tick "Remember on this device", and only in your own browser's storage. It is never sent to PDFly.
