Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and marked up in your browser, and the new file is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
What can I add to a PDF?
Highlights, freehand drawing, text notes, rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows. There is also a laser pointer for pointing things out on screen, which is never saved.
How do I save my annotations?
Press Download PDF. Your markings are added on top of the original pages and saved as a new file. The original is not changed.
Can I edit or remove something I added?
Yes. Use the Select tool to click, move or delete an item, the Eraser to rub items out, or Undo and Redo. Double-click a text note to edit it. Items are editable until you download.
Will the text of the PDF still be selectable?
Yes. The original text stays as it was. Your annotations are added as a layer on top, so they are drawn as pictures and are not searchable.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Draw with a finger or pen. With the Select tool, drag to scroll the page.
Which pages can I annotate?
Any page of a PDF that is not password protected. Pages that are rotated in the file are not supported yet.
